| Re: Religion V Evolution (Round 1) ding ding Religion and evolution arent that far off of each other. As the world evolved, so did religion... different ages, different gods... different origins of gods...
Christianity for example, came from way back when the sun was worshiped and the night was feared... God/Lucifer... or known then differently. The two "gods" would fight on a daily basis, where God won, the day would come, where Lucifer won, the night would come...
Religion is a product of our own creativity, as anything profoundly good happens (i.e. the sun rising, bringing heat, protection from the dark etc) there MUST have been something behind it... and it all stemmed off from that... |

| Re: Religion V Evolution (Round 1) ding ding I love how the evolution vs. creationism/intelligent argument design is always reduced to evolution vs. religion. Religion is no more incompatible with evolution than Harry Potter books are.

Also actually arguably the need to provide a means of explaining the world and everything in it played a part as well, but probably only as a means of justifying the system itself. Quote:

Belief in the bible/any given creation myth is (which is I think the point you were making anyway). The question is which of these is religion? (Probably not all that interesting a question on reflection, I sense a philosophical cul de sac approaching...)

| Re: Religion V Evolution (Round 1) ding ding Wow, halos are like the sun as well, think there's a connection? And people that commit crimes are normally the same colour as the night, think that's linked as well?

That said I agree with your position under your definition and the world wouldn't be enriched by a long drawn out discussion in the vein of "what is religion" heh. |
