| A good book to try and find is called The Tao Of Pooh & The Te Of Piglet by Benjamin Howff. It basically uses stories from Winnie The Pooh to explain the basics of Buddhist philosophy. It is a great read and is not just useful for people new to the subject as i know a few buddhists who have had my copy for over a year now and have read it a few times. |

Shakyamuni (the wee fat, original Buddha) said so himself

| i was a buddhist. well, i say was cos i kinda quit but according to everone else, cos i was initiated i always will be and blah.
basically i disagreed with quite a few things especially the Cause and Effect sutra which basically says that the way you live your life is predestined by your past life, eg if in this life you are unable to have children=you killed babies in your last life, if in this life you are deaf and dumb=you told a lot of lies, if in this life you are a pig=you were a thief or something like that.
there's a temple of great western rd if anybody really is interested, they do sermon things in english and give you lunch on sundays. |

| You show a poor knowledge of Buddhist teachins as what you are refering to is not Cause and Effect but Karma, which is something different entirely.
You obviously arent familiar with the Lotus Sutra and the writings of Nichiren Daishonin which teaches that whilst you may inherit Karma from a previous life, you have the ability, here and now, to change that Karma.
