| BAFL (British american football league) 2009 Season Hello there peeps!
Well the '09 season is underway and it's one of some changes. Thought I'd give a little update on the teams in the west of Scotland so that if anyone fancies popping along to check them out or getting involved in any capacity, they know the latest. East Kilbride Pirates: I'll start with my own team, Scotland's Number one! Due to a league restructure putting travel costs up, the Pirates regrettably had to step down from the Premier to Division 1. Fortunately this means we have a few local games (WCT and Dundee) and also we have the opportunity to win a few more games than usual. We've also got a brand new ground so anyone who fancies coming to Hamilton Rugby Club to see us will be able to enjoy a bar, BBQ, some music and generally just a better spectator experience. Fixtures are here Glasgow Tigers: The Tigers have got a new look and a new home ground in Pollock Country Park where they played their season opener last year and which is a lovely venue so good work there. Expect some great games against Scottish opposition. Fixtures are here West Coast Trojans: The Trojans have long wanted a shot against the Pirates and finally this year they get two. Unfortunately ( ) in the first one, they lost 62-12 but the return leg in August should be good and expect games against Dundee, etc. to be hard fought affairs. They play home games in King George V Park, Renfrew. Fixtures are here
Clyde Valley Blackhawks
A brand new team for the '09 season, CV are the senior team of the Clyde Valley Hawks (who have not entered the league this year - confused? yet ). They lost in their first big test against the Tigers but they've plenty of experience and I'm sure we'll see a good rematch. Home games at Beltane Park, Wishaw. Fixtures are here
Try and get yourself along to a game if you're into the sport. It's a long way from the NFL but you're usually guaranteed a good afternoons entertainment, particularly with EK |

| Re: BAFL (British american football league) 2009 Season yeah, I was gutted with Inverness pulling out of games at this stage in the season. Really annoying when you don't get a full season - ours was 7 games last year!!
Glad to hear you're donning the pads (and waders) again tomorrow |

| Re: BAFL (British american football league) 2009 Season Spoonie, I'd love to be all over this like you all over every bird at Murrayfield, but I'm out with a dislocated shoulder for the next couple of weeks at least. Might start coming along to training, what night(s) is it on again? |

| Re: BAFL (British american football league) 2009 Season As I say, they have lovely new home ground and on a nice day, there's some sweet decking, outside the bar and overlooking the pitch. There's not much in life that's better than sun, booze and American Football! |

Im a member of the Glasgow Tigers Team.
Personally Im looking forward to the Manchester game. Dont know if anyone knows why but Im not sure if I should publicly post why im super excited about it. Chris Fountain and Ricky Whittle from Hollyoaks play for the team and Im super excited. Yes I am a girl, leave me alone :-p
Also excited about the fact that the playoffs are the day after my birthday so keeping my fingers crossed that we can get that far.
Enjoyed the Pirates - Trojans game and looking forward to the second match up. |
