..when does the hell end?

I've been writing this beast for over a year now...in 4th yr technically. I'm demented. I can't stand to look at it. Writing it can only be done when under the influence of something stronger than coffee. It is the worst thing I've ever done in my life. So, to anyone out there contemplating a PhD..don't DO IT!!! It is not worth it, on any level. That said...I'm off now to write some more worthless crap..

I have been dining on a diet of wine, bourbon and chocolate for over a year now...how long can someone look hot on that diet, I ask ye?

Seriously..it's depressing, awful, horrible and all other neg words I can't be assed looking up. On the bright side, I'm off to Japan for 2 weeks in Oct to 'talk' about my 'work' so altho that'll take up a grand total of 20mins, that's a lot of spare time for drinking sake!

There has to be some bonus in science, cos the money def ain't it.

p.s that said, any volunteers to proof read?

went part time 2 years in, have now been at the phd for 5 fucking years. am now running desperately short of time. feeling the pain...

yeah but that makes you an MD rather than a Dr

MD is another degree again on top of a medical degree (less than a PhD and not favoured as much by the medical profession). Unless you want to be a plain old G.P., you'll probably have to do a PhD as well to progress in medicine..the only real way to get into an expert field...plus otherwise, the title 'Dr' is merely an honourary title

Anyway, I feel better now after drowning myself in a pool of wine. Wrote utter shit yesterday, so today will be full of 'Ctrl X', re-write, print, red pen and then the cycle continues. On a plus note, I'll submit my intention to submit, so that gives me 3 months tops.

I'm giving some serious thought to doing a PhD, actually. I'm enjoying my masters a lot, although I suppose the fact that it's nicely spread out, being part time, may be a factor.

Then again, I go into work and think about much I'd rather be reading about genocide.

What was your basic degree subject? Human rights law sounds fascinating, but is it not really horrific reading some of the material for it?

I understand completely, I went through hell (and a lot of Vodka) to complete my MPhil thesis on time.

If you're looking for someone to check grammar and stuff rather than factual info then drop nevali a pm...I may be an English teacher but he's the grammar nazi in the relationship.
