will be giving a talk at 8.00 pm in Turnbull Hall, Southpark Ave entitled -
"Resurrectionists in Glasgow" In Scotland, body-snatching is, in the public mind, associated with Edinburgh and Burke and Hare. But Glasgow also has a wealth of history of resurrectionist activity before the passing of the Anatomy Act of 1832. The material for the present talk was gathered largely from contemporary Glasgow newspapers. Dr McDonald will describe the sources of cadavers used to supply the dissecting rooms of Georgian Glasgow. He will take you on a night-time trip to desolate lanes by country churchyards and up the dank, dark alleys of old Glasgow where there may be some nasty surprises
All staff of the University and their partners and guests are welcome
Coffee will be served after the meeting
I'm nothing to do with this organisation, but I'm macabre so thought I'd advertise this if anyone's interested.
