Anyone that's been around Gilmorehill or Crichton recently has probably heard about this.
The University has taken the decision to close it's campus in Dumfries, which is currently the one of the only Higher Learning institutes in the area (the other being a Paisley Uni campus). They are blaming this move on a lack of funding, despite Glasgow Uni allegedly being more then £2 Million in the black and being able to give Sir Muir Russel (University Principle and former Civil Servant) a £27,000 pay rise. The University also carried out a controversial redundancy program last year, which had reduced the size of the already stretched and underfunded Arts Faculty, with the aim of cutting costs.
Previously, the Crichton Campus had been hailed as a great benefit to the Dumfries area, allowing many who previously hadn't been able to attend University to do so.
The Herald has a lot more information on this.

There was a protest about this at Gilmorehill today and there's been a lot of flyering and so on going on campus to try and raise awareness on this issue. It's also the subject of a Scottish Parliamentary debate tomorrow and an SRC Council Meeting tomorrow evening.
So, what do people think? Is the University right to close Crichton just because of the money or is it just another symptom of Sir Muir's mis-management of the University of Glasgow?
