How Does Your Adviser of Studies Measure Up?
The SRC at Glasgow Uni are currently running a survey to find out just how good (or bad) Advisors of Study are at Glasgow.

If you fill in the survey, you have a chance of winning a decent amount of vouchers (I think they might be Amazon vouchers, but I'm not sure) and in the long run getting the Advisor system at Glasgow changed. Link to the survey. Closing date for them is the 1st of June.

Anyway to get a wee bit of interest going in this, how has you adviser been in your time ate Uni?

Personally, mine has always been amazing and very understanding, but when my Dad died, my advisor was ill and I had to deal with the Chief Advisor of LBSS who was crapness incarnate. Even made me go round each of my Heads of Department with a letter when I was gushing tears left, right and center. Bastard.

mine probably has no idea who i am. i've met him twice in 3 years at uni. maybe that's because we all end up pretty close to our lecturers in theatre and are made to feel as if they should be our first point of contact though...

i had my advisor of studies as my final year project co-ordinator and that fuckin rocked, we got on well so i was chuffed.

My original one was brilliant - then I transfered faculties and had several seperate competent but seemingly uncaring ones.

Mine was good but ended up being my head of department, which isn't really how it's supposed to work.

So I ended up dealing with the chief advisor to the Arts Faculty quite a bit, who is an absolute star.
