OK, there are a couple of old UCAS personal statement threads but they are a bit rubbish.
Im trying to write mine just now and its painful to say the least. Been over six years since I wrote my last one and Im fairly sure it was half copied and fairly generic. Id rather avoid doing that again. SO
What makes a good personal statement?
Things to avoid?
Also, anyone know any sites that have decent examples

Im still a little in doubt about how much Universities really care about what your personal statements says for courses that arent Medicine or such like. Who actually reads them? The departments themselves or some admissions admin who has no real clue about the subject? |

The head of the department had mine in front of him when I went in for an interview/chat. Just write why you want to do the course and have a few examples of things you do/have done that indicate it's something you genuinely have an interest in and want to do.

The problem I had was my college were ment to be running my next course after the summer but they decided at the last minute not to bother so now ive been running round like a loon trying to get something sorted!
