New Union

Before I finished up for summer there I heard they were planning to move the union to another building on campus. Im sure its the building next to the medical one(whatevers its called i cant remeber M000 room numbers) that has offices n stuff in it. Honestly our union at the moment lets the whole uni down i think, i never go there but if it was a decent size with a decent atmosphere and good nights i'd actually go! But aye does anyone know anything about it? Or about the progress, if any?

The building your thinking of is the correct one for the new union.

North Hanover Street Building - all Student Association Services are moving there - or already have more to the point - and as of the new term it will be ready *or so they say*

Caledonian Student.com is absolutely never updated though, so is utterly unreliable!

hello,

Yes the SA is moving and has moved....all the democratic services have moved to North Hanover Street, so Welfare, Sports & Socs, RAG, Re Union and Student Devlopment has moved, with a hot desking zone for all student reps.

The building work started on Monday, with a new coffee bar and a Brand new venue/nightstop. A new shop and a new kitchen/cafe/diner all located under 1 roof, the SA has all 3 floors of North Hanover Street. The work WILL be complete for Induction week, and Bedsit finally shuts its doors towards the end of August.

Photos are up on Caledonianstudent.com and they will be updated. This is an excited period and time to forget about Bedsit and think of your new building and services!!!!!

See if you'd done this sort of shit when I was there I'd never have given you guys such a hard time!

Edit: At least the toilets are ready. I recall going in there when it was being used as office space and noticing sparkly floors in the bog.

close the union i say, you shouldnt be encouraging them to go and drink, spend the time doing something constructive like say degree work

Aye, I wondered in last week to try get a new student diary for this semester, only to have left without a diary, but was given a condom - not even realizing that's what it was untill I found it in my bag and looked properly, a few days ago!

It was .... clean and airy I suppose, but I only saw the wee cafe/shop bit.

Had absolutely no idea how to get to the other levels as I didn't spot a lift or set of stairs, so not experienced the bar or anything yet. *shrug*
