It's not people hiding them, it's library trolls coming out at night and eating the books.

Want a longer loan of a book at Strathclyde? Take it out of the short loan section on Friday afternoon - you don't have to bring it back until first thing Monday. (I graduated in 2003 - this may have changed by now)

As long as you're up in one of the reference sections, it tends to be VERY quiet. Like a proper library, as opposed to my library which has kids in playing the wii and dance dance revolution on monday evenings.
