| Re: Help - University withdrew me from course Just a quick update for everyone.
We have had some good news today, my girlfriends Disclosure Scotland came through with abosolutely nothing on it, it was clean as a whistle.
This means that two independant bodies now disagree with the Universities decision. The SSSC will now register my girlfriend (except the uni will probably not approve ) and Disclosure Scotland have stated she has no criminal record that is off issue for her to be a Social Work Student.
Thats not including NARCO who stated she was within her legal right not to disclose something if she was not aware of it at the time, simply because there was nothing to disclose. The solicitor we asked for advice also said the same thing, and so did CAB
This to me is absolute proof that the University was wrong to expect her to disclose something when she enroled, in fact it would have put her at a significant disadvantage had she done so, and by admitting something to the University has been the cause of her to be withdrawn unfairly when she did not need to do so in the first place.
I can see a court case looming unless the university make the right decision to allow her back onto the course.
David. |

| Re: Help - University withdrew me from course What age was the boy? Because if he was under 4 then you just go into Curry's and ask for a really big box. Kids love boxes.
Bear it mind for future.

Bear it mind for future. | hehe yeah I am sure kids to love boxes and the packages that gifts come in rather than the gift. However her son was just turning 15 at the time.
Doesn't change anything, she was wrong....but not as wrong as the University was for treating her the way they did. We have a case now, the University has 2 choices, either enrol her back on the course and admit they behaved in an unfair way to her as she was not treated the same way as other people, or they go to court and get their institution dragged through the mud. Hopefully they will see sense and avoid that. After all they were in the wrong, and we now have proof that they were and their decision was flawed.
anyway thanks for the post, cheered us up :-) |

She was stupid and made a stupid mistake for the first and last time. There is no excuse for what she done, that why she got fined, she accepted that, has learned a costly lesson. |

Thank you triggerhappy.
We are delighted about her disclosure being clear as well. It just goes to prove that the university were obviously permature in making their decision and hopefully they will admit they made a mistake and my girlfriend can go back on the course and everyone lives happily ever after.
Sigh... if only it would be that simple. I have no hair left any more to pull out.
We will keep you updated regardless of the outcome.
Thanks for your support.

| Re: Help - University withdrew me from course how can you have a 'personality clash' with the head of your course?
In my time at Uni i saw very little personal interaction between heads of courses and non faculty. This seems slightly suspect to me. |

Just depends where you go, what you study and who is actually teaching you I guess. |

The head of anatomy was also the only full-time member of the teaching staff in that department so 90% of my interactions with staff in anatomy classes were with the head of department.
We also had tutorials and lectures from the head of the entire faculty of life sciences, never mind departments.
