I could argue back that calley is great, but why would I want to, I really don't get this guys problem, I also relise that this isn't gramatically correct and that a go between adresing this cunt personally and for example now typing about him, but I'm sure the message is getting across kinda.

I'm a student at Cali and I have no problems with it at all, it's a great uni with a great mixture of people.

The way I see it, the intellectual standard of Caley IS lower than Glasgow or Strathclyde - this isnt a dig, its a fact, backed up by things like entrance requirements and degree accreditations. However, I dont think this is some failing on Caley's part. As Mulac so accurately pointed out on the previous page, Caley is forced into a lower standard by the current attitude to higher education and financial contraints. So Caley is not trying to reach the same standard as Glasgow and Strathclyde and failing, it is in fact aiming a bit lower and doing a good job of it. In my opinion, Caley would be better off aiming solely a niche courses the traditional uni's wont do, but are being forced into offering conventional courses at lower standards in order to fill up the quotas of bodies the Government demands. It's a sorry state of affairs in general - the Government have this new idea that everyone can go to uni if they just lower the standards a little, without realising that this damages the entire education spectrum as a knockon effect. It would be better to bring back the huge grants for all students and raise the entrance grades back up, so that wealth is not an issue but ability is - surely thats the way a Uni should be working? Convincing every citizen that Uni is a Good Thing is plain wrong, and the effect is that Uni's like Caley are forced into accepting muppets into diddy courses to get the numbers up, giving ignorant observers the impression that the entire Uni is shite. The real brunt of rants of this nature should be aimed at the string-pullers forcing Caley into this situation, not the Uni itself which is only doing what it needs to survive.

PapaXMachina lectures at Caley, BruvXMachina got his first degree there (and went straight into a £18K/yr job after graduating) and thanks to a UCAS clerical calamity I was going there until a week before uni. Can't be that bad.
I seem to remember a sizable of Strathclyde's sociology dept fucking off to Caley a few years back so Caley must be doing something right.

My views on subjects like sociology aside, this is an example of Caley filling a niche area better than other uni's. I'm sure left to its own devices, the Uni would prefer doing that to anything else.
