Cool. Thursdays is poison upstairs. It's80's rock and AC/DC that kind of stuff. I have some wee flyers somewhere which get you a free shot.
Was thinking of going to Opium on Thursday night after Thrice.Originally Posted by korndolly666

Opium is a bar, upstairs is the dance floor where they have themed nights - thurs is 80's.
Red Bull BabyJ? eek, first time i got drunk at college was on double red bulls and vodka. Is only time I haven't been able to remember a single word comingout of my mouth despite drinking a lot more since then.
I can't stand the smell of red bull now, nevermind the taste yuckkk!

I might go again soon. its ok i think. good to get away from the catty now and then. And mix with ppl you dont actually know.
I think it's Mission I'm going to tomorrow. Somewhere in Edinburgh anyway. Anyone tell me what kind of night it'll be, music-wise?
If its the Mission it will have lots of different stuff playing in the main floor (it can be good it can be very very bad stuff) and then upstairs you'll have more industrial/ ebm/ goth stuff.
As for Opium, except for the prices on a Sunday night, that bar has nothing going for it.
I'll just need to hope it's one of the better nights on the random rock floor then.
I've been to Opium on a Saturday before, wasn't overly impressed, especially not with the prices. Had an awesome shot containing Tabasco however, that was grand.
i used to go to the mission all the time when i lived in broxburn, just outside edinburgh. went there last saturday 280204 an d stayed in a nice B&B called the beverley,....anyways, was lucky enuff to get the mission, andf the music was more old skool with proper metallers headbangin n stuf. non of this erm....emo dancin and teen angst stuff....im 22 and most ppl were my age and above, as opposed to the catty who will let anyone and everyone in ...no offence, but i think the catty is gettin more trendy nowadays, at least the mission is in the middle of nowhere and you have to really love metal to know about it. I keep imaginin its the club in blade with all the vampires.....it can be boring, but i think its less clique-y than the catty. Still go to the catty tho! lol Ah but, can u smoke hash safely in the catty? i think not. I was @ the mission with my mate once, rollin and smokin joints openly and noone gave a shit....ahhhhhhh.....i digress.
When we went to the catty at halloween we never got in the queue was so long, and they were only letting so many people in. Then some of my mates noticed that the bouncers were picking young girls out the crowd and letting them in!!!

Yer off yer head. It was full of children on Saturday, from what I saw. I get ID'd at the Cathouse most weeks too.

MOIST
I've never been ID'd @ any club at Studio 24 and i've never not been ID'd at the Cathouse. People under 18 stand a better chance of getting into the Mission in my opinion.Originally Posted by melisand
The Mission is about 3 minutes from Princes Street, its pretty far from being in the middle of nowhereIts also, apparently, the largest "alternative" club in Scotland, its hardly as unknown as you make it sound. Not to mention it plays a lot more than just Metal, so you reeeeeally don’t have to "love metal to know about it".
