No, I wouldn't say that at all. The two floors are vey different; the goth floor is definitely aimed at the goth crowd (big surprise there), but the metal floor is equally aimed at metalheads. I think the metal floor's been great lately; I spend most of my time upstairs, but every time I go downstairs the music's great. Therapy, pixies, maiden, it just seems like every time I venture downstairs it just gets better. Still, it's been years since I spent more than half an hour down there.
If you want more specialised stuff, yes, you do have to shop around a bit. The weekday clubs at the studios are usually a bit more specialised, and there's the odd club at the Teviot union that caters for old school rock or goth.
There's a new club on this Friday there too, which is, well, a dance club aimed at the general alternative crowd, I suppose you'd call it... It's gonna be fantastic. Mind, I'm biased, seeing as I'm djing at it.
