annoying white flash when opening an uncached page when i open a page i haven't been on in the current session (beit the homepage on first visit or individual threads) there's a really annoying white flash right as the page finishes loading
anybody else getting this? it's sore on the eyes when browsing the site this late at night (or any time when most of the light in the room is coming from the monitor)

The usual:
What skin are you using?
What browser are you using?
I can replicate this on FireFox/Old AN Black Default. Do not get it in IE on any skin.
On FF switched to the White skin and no longer got the flash of white.
Oddly enough, switched to a different skin and then back to Old AN Black Default - not happening any more.
Nope..restarted browser - flash is back again.

I' don't want to put myself forward as some sort of expert in the style/skins set up on altnation at present but I'd guess that "Old AN Black Default" may be an old option and not fully supported or maintained anymore.
Happens on other skins (been messing about with it for the last few minutes) as well, only in FF so far (most recent version)
Tested and found flashing white so far: New Black Default, Cool Blue, After Dark, Dark Grey, Twisted, Purple Grape (Purple Grape did not flash the whole screen, merely the inset inside the purple background), Red, Ambience 100%, Pink, Flame, AN Binary, AN Black, AN Black/White, White, White(small), and White/Blue
Does not happen in: Spoilt Day Shades (this does not redraw for sidebar - instead just pushes out side of browser), Spoilt Night Shades (same deal)
In further testing I can get it to happen 100% of the time now.
Pick a picture heavy page on 40posts/page or thereabouts.
Click.
Watch the area where the sidebar should be.
There is a white flash just before the sidebar loads and the forum layout redraws itself entirely to fit the new size of the post layout due to the introduction of the sidebar.
Perhaps load the sidebar ahead of the forum content so that it doesn't need to redraw?

Could be due to a number of things btw, javascript caching for AN or for an advert or could be rerendering of tables or summat. Pure guesswork though as I can't replicate it on the New Default, gimme a shout if anyone finds the problem and fix but doesn't have access to apply it and I'll get it done ASAP

Refresh this page for my notes above - I've tested every skin and found two that work "successfully" (by not redrawing the page when the sidebar loads)
I might just get rid of that side bar.
