| Feet Right, I have the urge for ink again & I have a couple of ideas for the top of my foot, which is where I want it.
I'm planning to design something myself, and was just wondering if there is anything I should consider when doing this? For example, is fading a problem on feet due to shoes rubbing? I don't know anyone with tattoos on their feet to bug about this, so I'm asking the good folk here.
So, any advice? |

| Re: Feet I know a couple of girls with foot tattoo's.
During healing they just wore shoes that gave it as much air as possible.
Kind of almost flip flops.
Best get it done soon, probably not the best footware for winter ........ |

| Re: Feet I just wore sandals whilst it was healing and if i had to, i used lanosil comfy sport socks and trainers to walk about places to, if it was raining.
It all depends where about on your foot you are getting it. I have had my stars for, maybe, 3 years now and they go up the full length of the top of my foot and none of them seem to be fading.
But, i have seen foot tattoos at the side of the foot, fade really fast. I will try and dig out the picture.
As Clarkster said, you are best getting it done during the warm months so you can wear sandals and flip flops alot, it really does make the whole healing process easier. |

My initial plan is to get it on the top of the foot, from around below the ankle bone, to just before my big toe, obviously this might change depending on the design.
I was more worried about fading as I'm planning on having some thin lines in the design and some pale colour (I'm completely clueless about colours fading, as all my current tattoos are just black) |

That's my foot tattoo. It hasn't really faded that much and I've had it for a couple of years. I'm not a flip flop person so I spent most of my time in bare feet when it was healing, but still wore my trainers to go out and stuff.

| Re: Feet I really dont know how it would work with fine line detail, you are best talking to your tattooist about it. My stars are pretty big, with thick black outlines so i can't say about much about.
To be honest i don't see how it would be a huge problem as long as you take alot of care when healing them and whenever get your chance go barefoot (in the house).
I was just worried in case it was at the side of the foot as the skin tends to shed more there and i have seen people with tattoos in that area have them total dissapear!
Get the pictures up when you get them done
& here by my feet.

| Re: Feet Nah, I'm avoiding the sides to the foot as I'd pretty much guessed it might be likely to fade quicker due to skin shedding.
Nice stars (and shoes btw)! Quote: |

| Re: Feet I have both my feet tattooed, one on the heel part just under the anklebone, and one right across the whole of my foot. Healing was fine and as everyone said, wear sandals for a couple of weeks anyway after you get it done.
It was really a sore place to get done, but lines haven't faded at all. I must look out some pics...

| Re: Feet healing. use bepanthen and go bare-foot as much as possible. if you *have* to wear shoes, apply a thick layer of bepanthen, cover with clingfilm and micropore a wad of kitchen roll over that, then a sock, so it doesnt have a chance to shift around. as soon as you get home, peel it all off and apply a fresh layer of bep. i know this is a pain in the arse and dead complicated, but you only have to do it for 4 - 7 days befor ethe dead skin reacts and you can start using an aloe vera moisturiser or similar.

I'm planning to get it done when I'm off work so I wont need to wear shoes that much! I'd rather persevere with the bep & clingfilm at the end of the day, than end up with a patchy tattoo.
Cheers. |
