May I suggest, if you're set on the tattoo, an alternative to Chinese characters? Something like Ogham or Futhark? As, if not more, aesthetically pleasing and far less common.

I was actually considering runes (it's a heritage thing). I know how to wite my name in runes, so at least there's no danger of getting a tattoo saying "Kung Po Chicken"
