Advice on keloids

I'm not sure if its a keloid, but basiclaly i got my nose pierced almost 2 years ago, something started to grow on it and i was told it was a keloid and it would never go away and to take my nose ring out by a friend of mine. so i took it out, the next day the keloid was gone, but of course, my piercing was closed up. about a year and a half ago, i got my nose repierced and the "keloid" came back after the piercer told me it wouldn't. i put teatree oil on it and saline solution and that got rid of it, since then it keeps returning about once a month and it gets big and swollen and red, then explodes and puses and then disappears out of sight until the next time. anyone have any idea what it is, why it is and what i can do to permanently get rid of it? i really dont want to get rid of my nose ring but i dont want this thing to keep coming back! what do i do?

Re: Advice on keloids

It wasn't a keloid. It was most likely a buildup of dead tissues accumulating into a wee bubble next to the piercing, which will go away with good cleaning. However they will recur if your piercing is irritated, for example with small crusties (often invisible to the naked eye) being constantly pulled through the relatively fragile newly-healing skin of the hole. This often happens if you wear a ring rather than a stud, or if you play with it alot. Don't move the jewellery when you clean the piercing and don't wear a ring while it's healing.

Re: Advice on keloids

thank you for all the information. what i dont get about it though, is that the first 3 months i had the piercing whatever this thing is didnt show up, now its been a year and a half and its still recurring, i thought it wouldb e healed by now. i dont have a ring i have a stud and i dont play with it often... althought i do guess i pick around it a lot to try and get rid of crusties... i'll try to keep cleaning it and keep my fingers off of it and see how that goes:P haha thank you.
