| Re: Stretching FAQ it goes 1.6 - 2.4 - 3.2 - 4 or 5 depending on how easy stretching was (but you can get 4.5s in some places), then up in gaps of one or two millimeters (again, depending on how easy you found stretching)
However I was bad and skipped 2.4 (I went 1.6 - 3.2 - 4 in less than a week....but don't do that!) |

| Re: Stretching FAQ Forgive me if this has already been posted but I've just finished work and I'm heading off to bed and I can't be arsed sifting through all the posts but there's a guy I work beside who had 18mm lobes which are now probably 2 or 4 but you can hardly tell cos he doesn't wear anything in them anymore, within about three months of removing his 18mils they shrank back down to that size but he stretched his lobes by hanging weights off them instead of the usual (or what I would classify as usual) brute force and ignorance way. but yeah, I was taken aback and somewhat pleased to learn that this happened as I was in the belief that after going beyond a ten that was it, but clearly not, so do you think their may be a link to the way you stretch your lobes in relation to the possibility that they will close up if you remove the jewellery?
I thought I'd stop at 14 but now I have the desire to go further... any ideas? |

| Re: Stretching FAQ I have a 18 and i stretched it with the old brute force well in hot water, and when i take them out just over night its a real mission to get them back in, think you can shrink them doin it slowly in stages |

| Re: Stretching FAQ It really does depend on the person - some people can shrink back down to normal from over an inch, and others (like myself) are still above 1.6 after having them only at 5mm.
The usual concensus is 'If you're not happy to be stuck with it, don't risk it'
Also, the only real difference between weight stretching and plug stretching is that the stretch will go downwards (if you know what I mean) with weights, so the skin under the hole will become progressively thinner. Also, the hole may not end up even.
The main problem with plug stretching is that people don't do it properly. You should NEVER be forcing a plug in to the extent that your ear will tear (bleed) or become raw - your ear is simply not ready to stretch then, and may need an intermediate size.
Teflon tape is excellent, as you can stretch very gradually (one or two winds a day) so will far lessen your chances of tearing your ear. |

| Re: Stretching FAQ I started off just stretching my right lobe, but hit a couple of snags when I somehow managed to tear changing from a claw to a keeper at 2.4mm, so I left it until this week to try and stretch up to a 3.2. Managed to stretch my right lobe to 3.2mm on Thursday after a few false starts - doing it right after washing my hair meant that my ear was a lot more receptive to being stretched.
Decided today to stretch my left as well, which I wasn't going to do initially. I already had a 1.6mm BCR in, so I managed to get a 2.4mm claw in with no hassle. I'm not planning to stretch up again now until probably Christmas weekend.
I was initially just planning to go to 6mm, just because I want the option to go back down again, but also want to be able to find pretty tunnels and whatnot. I'll probably change my mind and end up at 12mm though! |

I thought I'd stop at 14 but now I have the desire to go further... any ideas? | it depends on your body. some bodies can close up, and some just wont. one of my friends did his own ear and stretched it, when he was 16, up to a 00ga. he took the funnel out about a year ago, and his body wont close up tighter than a 6ga.

| Re: Stretching FAQ I'm now at 5mm, thinking about going to 6mm at some point over the next few days, but I'm not finding much in the way of 7mm claws or plugs - do you stretch straight from 6mm-8mm? Can't help thinking that's going to hurt like buggery, especially since I struggled to go from 4mm-5mm with my left lobe. |

| Re: Stretching FAQ i've never used a claw to stretch my ears, i either get it done in nirvana when buying my plugs, or stretch up a mm when my ears are wet in the bath/shower, hopefully someone else will be more help than me though!

I'm at 6mm now - do I go straight to 8mm or should I go to 7mm first? |

| Re: Stretching FAQ 7mm. A 2mm jump at that size would hurt a lot and probably tear.
