you should have got your ears pierced then let them heal. this alone will take 8-12 weeks minimum.

then stretch once ever 4 weeks. otherwise you end up with scars which will make it harder to stretch in future and harder to shrink should you ever choose to remove them.

there are other ways to do it, but they are not the way you have. when stretching it should not hurt, and they certainly should not bleed. feel free to read the first post and the rest of this FAQ if you do wish to learn how to do it properly though.

Well I let my 1st ear heal over a month then stretched it from 2mm to 4mm, with no problems. It did sting a bit but never hurt. And if it was so dangerous for my 2nd ear, why did my piercer offer to stretch it? He knows what he is doing, I've seen his work, he would not offer me a 5mm, but I didn't want a 5mm, i asked for a 2.6mm then was going to stretch it myself but he offered to stretch it as well.

There only guidelines, not set rules. Yes the ideal time is 4 weeks, but it depends on the person, the method of stretching and so on...
Some people heal very fast, other's not so.

I think I'm going about it in a sensible way, with tapers, admittedly a little fast but not so fast I'm causing damage. What's wrong with my method? I'm not weighing them, causing un-even stretching, I'm not using house hold objects like knitting needles, snooker cues ect, and I'm not using the tape method as i have the right tools for the job.

I've read enough FAQ's to know what's right and wrong. I've seen the results of bad stretching personally, one person I know stretched to fast and didn't take into account the thinning of the skin, and ripped his lobe. Now he needs surgery.

So yes I know what I'm doing and know the dangers involved, I'm just telling my story, and if you don't like it, to be honest, its my body, I can do what i want with it.

Re: Stretching FAQ

One of the reasons you should wait between stretches is to allow your body to generate more tissue, which isn't something that varies tremendously between different people. Also the faster you go the quicker they'll heal up if you knock one out in your sleep or something, which is always a bugger.

You're getting mega defensive when (most of us) are just giving you advice for your own sake. I don't give a fuck what some person I've never met does to their lugs, but I'm a nice person & if I think I can help I will. If it's not wanted, I won't waste my time.

Re: Stretching FAQ

so i just finally fit 0 gauge tapers in my ears about 20 minutes ago.
hoorray!!!!!
from most of the people ive talked to, going from a 2 to a 0 is one of the more painful transitions, and i'd agree.
my right one slid in fine but the left one took a little bit more force. whats the likelihood that i will have a blowout on the left? i knew a kid who's ear blew out from going from a 0 to a 00. wouldnt be too happy if this happened. help!

Re: Stretching FAQ

I don't speak gauge, sorry.

My ears are made of lead or something, I can't get from 4 to 5 and I'm pushing with all my (limited) strength.

Re: Stretching FAQ

I don't have time for that. I've got the taper most of the way in & I'll just hope that while drunk/asleep I boof it right through.

Re: Stretching FAQ

OK - been thinking about doing this for a while and have finally decided that I want to go for it. Only problem is - I only realyl wear earrings when I'm going out so my holes are tiny! Have managed to get 1.2mm rings into the second holes (I want to go to about 3mm on the second hole and 5mm on the first) the first holes are slightly bigger probably due to the fact that I did wear 2mm rings in them years ago.

Anyways - what I wanted to know is - should I do the stretching one set of holes at a time? ie - now that I've stretched the second holes should I let them heal before I go for the first stretch on the first holes (which will just be to 1.6mm to start with - the holes might be slightly bigger but I don't think I'd be able to get a 2mm in again and I'm no rush) or would I be ok to go ahead with the first holes and heal them together?

Re: Stretching FAQ

Starting off at 2mm should be easy enough, at that size i would say it should be fine to go on and do the other holes but when you start to go up do it with a bit of caution.
