| Re: Broadband Truth Campaign See, I vary from 1900kb to about 300kb on a 2meg connection. Thats a result of tiscali traffic shaping though. they throttle it back at the same time every day. Outwith that, speed is fine. Its annoying though spending money for 2M when between 4pm and 11pm I only get 300k. THATS what the complaint is. They should sell that speed as a 1mb connection really.
Tiscali are shit though.

| Re: Broadband Truth Campaign I am going to move from virgin broadband to BT business connections for my home network as these isp's treat domestic customers like shit but they cant get away with that at business rates and terms Quote: |
most people that are using wireless are not right beside the router. with distance you geat a speed decrease.
| How wrong can someone be?
When the speed of broadband is measured, it is measured from the isp to the router or modem. It is not measured from the isp to your computer. A byword for incredible incompetence and criminal advertising services it cant live up to

speedtest.net downloads and uploads an mp3 file(cant really compress it more so cant save time on compressing it, sending it and extracting it at the far end) and times it. so aye, server > computer. |

The only way you can get the Sync speed from an ISP>Router is by the Stats that the router shows. Anything else is just going to show you what speed your PC is getting out of that most speed checker's download amd upload a small file, and even that might not show what your attainable rate is if your ISP is in the business of capping at certain times, or if they use traffic management of any type.
Oh, and Pro-tip for those using wireless, If your noticing much slower speeds when wireless, try changing the wireless channel on your router, works a treat sometimes.
