    animated gif software

I'm looking for recommendations for software to convert .avi files to animated gif files to embed in powerpoint slides. Ideally I'd like them to retain as much as possible the quality of the original images. Any recommendations?

If you're giving the slides to someone who's taking them elsewhere the .avi has to be in the exact same folder originally targetted or it won't run, so it's not really embedded, it's actually linked. Unless there's another way of doing it that I've missed and I'm being a tool (but as I checked before asking the question, I doubt it).

Well it has to be in a folder with the same name not nessecarily the original folder. If you sending the .avi with the presentation then (depending on the level of computer competency of the reciever) you could concievably instruct them to put the file in an appropriatly named folder so it loads?

Not an option, and something I'm aware of already..again, hence why I asked for animated .gif software recommendations. But, thanks for the input. Brett has already suggested software that works a treat, so no need for any more oh so helpful and not in the least bit condescending replies
