Re: Cheap PC

Go into PC World and see what deal they'll do you on a base unit only, you should be able to pick up something better than you'd expect for under £300.

Friend of mine - his gran got into gaming big-time about 4-5 years ago. For Christmas she buys herself a new motherboard/ram/cpu/videocard/whatever and goes and installs the old one in her granddaughter's machine.

My gran enjoyed a good game of Civilisation or theme hospital before she discovered the bingo again.

To be honest your probably not worth building your own if it's a cheap machine your looking for.

I personally think build your own really only becomes a "cost saver" when your looking at a high end machine.

If you only need Mobo,RAM, PSU and case then you can pick up those pretty cheaply, certainly cheaper than a low end pre-built machine. Should be able to get all the bits to finish off a machine for under £100, whereas a base machine would still cost around £200-300?
