| Sending BIG files So.. I need to send a 700meg file to a host of different people, but obviously dont want to be emailing something that size.
I thought about using MegaUpload, but you can only send to one person at a time.
I thought about sticking the file up on a bit of webspace for people to download, but I'm not sure how to do that.. and I dont have a spare 700meg of hosting lying around.
It only needs to be there for a couple of days...
Any idea's?
Al

| Re: Sending BIG files yousendit.com is the only one i can think of, although not sure about sending to multiple people at once.
If I remember correctly you just send them a URL to download from though.
Also, no apostrophe in ideas. /grammarnazi |

| Re: Sending BIG files Torrent it? If you're sending it to techie people then you should be able to setup a private tracker on your pc and publish it, or if it's not confidential etc you could publish it on a public tracker.

| Re: Sending BIG files Could you seed the file as a torrent? ... I don't know what the security implications of this would be but surely it could be done.

| Re: Sending BIG files http://www.pando.com/
?
or, if not confidential, http://www.4shared.com/
(think that makes stuff public, but in fairness, if you call the file "paperclip inventory march 2005" you probably don't need to worry too much about folk downloading it who shouldn't )
but pando is what we use for sending 1Gb of photos to the web guy after a club shoot.

| Re: Sending BIG files Sending from the work computer, so cant put any torrent stuff on..
I'm trying Pando.. but since it's only uploading the file at 45kbps it might take some time to see if it's gonna work...

| Re: Sending BIG files Sign up for an Amazon S3 account and use S3 Firefox Organizer to upload the file.
The person downloading it won't need any special software, and it'll be very fast.
It'll cost about 7 pence for each download but there is no monthly fee or any other cost. |
