| Acer Laptops What do you slightly tech savvier folks than myself of the forum think of these?
I've got one at the mo (an apsire 3634WLMi) and had it for the last 2 years and it's done me no bad (it's main uses are uni work, internet, occasional downloads, music, photos etc) apart from the battery is pretty much fooked and have to use it plugged into a mains socket.
Are the newer models any better? I'm thinking of going for something similar to these
either way, just a heads up on whether it's worth sticking to the same make or some alternatives |

| Re: Acer Laptops I'd avoid to be honest.
Got ACERs in work (don't know why) and more than half of them over-heat regularly, screen switches off, battery problems, pretty much everything that could go wrong with a laptop does.

| Re: Acer Laptops What's you budget? The tech guys on here know their stuff and aren't all cheeky bastards If you give them an idea of your budget, they could probably advise the best laptop for your £s.

Lenovo makes a good laptop, but it tends to be marketed towards more businessy types
Acers, Aspires, Gateways (Now owned by Acer, iirc)...urgh. Just save yourself a headache |

| Re: Acer Laptops i have an acer aspire 5630. it sucks a lot of boaby. i can't go above a certain volume without it switching itself off, sometimes it won't shut down properly and various other things. i have another year of the loan on it to pay off before i can get another loan and maybe buy something a bit better since the lovely boy in comet lied to me about it being good.

I like the screens on HPs, much clearer than the Acers.

| Re: Acer Laptops Ive got an Acer and its fine, battery life aint so great but it was one of the cheapest models. We sell loads in my work and dont generally get much problems hence why i bought one.
Do not buy a fujitsu siemens they are gash, most problems we ever get. Also get quite a lot of Hewlett packards back too.
Id stick with the techi guys and say toshiba. Very rarely do we get one back....any problems usually spied within the first few days.

I dont know if this is any help, but I have been eyeing up a Samsung R60 for myself, pretty decent spec for the price: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Samsu...FQunQwod4U4Rgw
