| Refurbished Dell computers Has anyone ever bought a refurbished Dell laptop? Any good experiences or horror stories? I'm wondering whether or not they are actually better value than buying a new one.

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers depends who's refurbishingg it. factory refurbs tend to be pretty much as good as new. 3rd party can be a bit sketchy. |

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers I've had a dell desktop for the past 5 years or so and it's been fine. No probs I can't fix myself and I'm no computer genius so I'm not wary of dell computers themselves.
I get emails every so often from "Dell Outlet UK" for refurbished PCs... I just assumed it'd be an offical thing, like ones that get sent back and reworked.
Website seems legitimate, noone heard of this?

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers Yeah that's it.
Comparing specs off that site and the current dell website it seems you can get basic, mid range and top dolla laptops for a couple of huindred squids less than normal.
Few months behind the times obviously but what was £699 three months ago might be better than what is £499 this month.

Is almost certainly better then a comparable laptop at the price(about £520 with Delivery and Vat). And seems a pretty good deal for the sort of system it is.
Used that as random pick, but that's a good couple of hundred off the normal price.

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers I thought they seemed like decent deals. I can't really be bothered digging deeper re: processors etc but a couple seem OK. £349 for their basic 4mb ram, 250gb(or 500gb) hard disk and pentium something or other seems good. However, the refurb outlet seems to guarantee 4mb ram and 500gb with a decent processor and ok(ish) graphics card for a pinch under 500 nicker.
I really need someone that is constantly up to date with this kind of shit to give the thumbs up. Whaddya reckon?

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers If its an offical reburshed one then it'll be as good as a new Dell, but they obviously can't sell them as new so if you'd be happy with e new one you'll be ok with a reburbished one for a couple hundred quid off.
As far as spec goes they seem pretty decent and they'll be fine for whatever your likely to be using it for anyway.
They all have Windows Vista though, which a lot of people hate, and is due to be replaced on... Thursday? with Windows 7 so it'd be worth hanging on to see if those refurbs are reduced further or refurbs with Windows 7 start to appear, or they offer a free upgrade from Vista to 7.

| Re: Refurbished Dell computers free upgrade on a refurb is pretty unlikely tbh. i'm sure you'll be able to source a copy of 7 easy enough soonish though. |
