Sky Songs vs Spotify

http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/gadge...ky-songs-is-go

So skysongs has been launched. Does anyone see this actually taking over from spotify?

Well, its cheaper than spotify premium, and they let you download one album for the £6.49 a month fee.

They're using the fact that it runs directly from your web browser as an advantage... but it only runs from IE, firefox or safari.

I think I'd rather pay fro spotify premium than this. I like that you can share links to what you're listening to with others.

Anyone tried this yet? (free for 30 days if yer on Sky Broadband)

Re: Sky Songs vs Spotify

This is my brother's pet project. He was telling me about it a few months back and it sounded ok, but I'm sure he was talking about a few more bells and whistles than there seem to be on the current launch.

I don't really see a major problem with it only working on IE, FF and Safari. Spotify doesn't run natively in Linux either. Unless I'm wrong in assuming you're talking about Opera/Linux? You don't mean some nonsense browser like Flock, surely?!

I'd agree that they sharing playlists feature on Spotify does set it apart though.

Ah, Chrome slipped my mind! Aye, you can run Spotify under Wine, but you wouldn't need any jiggery pokery to run Sky Songs using Linux. Anyway, this is all by the by, I just couldn't figure out what browser was missing. I wouldn't have thought that there were that many folk out there using Chrome exclusively though.

Same here, I like that I can start up a Spotify playlist and close the window altogether.
