Setting up a Thomson Speedtouch 716

Hey, I'm really lost here hope someone can help...

I got a Thomson Speedtouch 716 wired router and it all set up - im using it right now infact.

I bought it to access Xbox live and iv been trying for a week now to try get it working... when i test a connection to xbox live i get a connection to the network and to the internet but for some reson its not letting my xbox connect to live... I have read through all the support i can find on the microsoft website but i cant find anything...

i have no firewall inplace to block it, iv called my isp to see if its something on their end (its not) and i just have no idea whats up...

any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might need to open the port, i advise checking out portforward.com.

Is it saying exactly where the connection test fails? I had problems at the MTU stage for a bit.

Yea i hat MTU problems for a while but i download a program to make it higher.

I checked my firewall and its not even on so that cant be blocking it... and i called my isp and they have nothing to do with it either, apparently.

Oh and i checked www.xbox.com/networkhelp - it doesnt even exist...

I'm nowhere near an expert, but i still reckon it's something in your router that you'll have to go in and change. Papazeb's a lot better at this than me, as this thread showed.

anyone have even the slightest idea on how to change the MTU settings on a thompson speedtouch716?

Iv looked in the user guide but i cant find it anywhere...

The error message about changing the MTU, in my experience, is generic and not the root of the problem your having.
