Annoying 2 tone beep

Being a generous person and lending my laptop to a needy soul, I went back on my trust desktop. Its had this problem for a while but I never sorted it out as im a gimp. Basically not long after its booted up and im on the net etc, a two tone continuous noise starts up. It's a high then a low beep repeated ad infinitum. Sometimes after a hour or a coupld of hours it suddenly stops. I've tried the "Kirsten menthod of fixing things" which was to bash my tower repeatedly which sadly didnt work

Had a quick google and all I could find was something like hardware issues Motherboard or something? Thing is everything is working perfectly so no idea what to do. Wail. Any idears?

check in your bios if you have an overheat warning. might be that. might be a huge number of things mind, and without knowing the system/board type i'm fairly unable to help.

Re: Annoying 2 tone beep

Another vote for overheat alert, although if it's not shutting down due to overheating it's maybe just that the alarm is set too low?
