| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. What Jody refers to is windows messenger popups - small grey windows like Windows Messenger Alerts that advertise some crap and require you to click OK to get rid of 'em.
Annoying, and you don't really need the messenger service for anything important so it's a good idea to get it turned off |

Myler's issues were a huge huckleberry of problems - resolved 'em in this thread: http://www.alternativenation.net/for...ad.php?t=51137 |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. Steve Gibson goes into it in quite a bit of detail, even going so far as to develop a freeware program to turn off the service for the technically inept. Linked to his site at www.grc.com above where he goes into similar detail about the windows messenger service. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. http://www.spywareguide.com/blockfile.php
This popped up to my attention today.
A small .reg that updates your registry to disallow the remote and quiet install of certain spyware programs. By "certain" spyware programs, I mean a currently updated list of about 133 or thereabouts.
Not bad, just download their .reg after you've cleaned the Spyware off your system, add it to your registry, and yer all good.
I've checked the file out myself as of today, and it's clean. All spyware CLSID's within the .reg, nothing to stick a backdoor on your system, it's just all about the screwing with spyware |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. *nod*
I understand how he feels, so much new stuff pops up and infiltrates work machines and my friends.
I can't understand what this does to say....folks with little to no pc experience getting their first computer, trying it out on the internet, and having it crippled within a few weeks. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. I'm using S&D and adaware at the moment, but i still seem to have a big problem, everytime i scan my comp i get something that says 'there is a hole in IE, this means people can run script throuh your browser without your knowledge' ...or somethig to that effect (i dont know the exact wording as i'm in college just now). Everytime i open up my hotmail messages through msn, it jumps straight to a shit search engine, same with an window really, just that i can hit the stop button.
Please help
