| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. right still no luck, i've patched up my explorer, ran spyware S&D, reset web settings, deleted internet files etc etc, but i'm STILL getting this 'DSO Exploit' and everytime i open a window it reverts to a search engine, could i just delete the 'registary change' that the file path refers to? or would that royally bugger up my comp? any help would be appreciated even if it means takig it to a shop and getting it fixd there.
cheers |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. Like I mention in the first post here - grab a copy of Hijack This. Run it, post the log into a new post in this forum section and myself or someone else that knows about it will let ya know what to fix. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. Yeah ive had the pain of New.Net quite recently.
I had a thread about it a week or two back, although back then i didnt realise that's what was causing the odd behaviour. I didnt actually suffer re-directs, but it caused timeouts when opening browser windows. I think I ended up fixing it fairly easily, it seems the install had been blocked midway by protowall and so i could quite easily remove it by deleting its folder and reg entries then using spybot to clean up. It also didnt show up on a hijack this log afterwards.

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. Aye, it's actually hijacking in the LSP portion of the TCP/IP stack so it injects itself into HTTP requests rather than per browser. Fucker. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. I tried it out earlier, it's still in the beta stages but it's not too bad. It includes scheduled scans/updates which the other programs lack. Good interface and makes it very easy to manage your IE settings and view any ActiveX, BHOs and Toolbars installed (also with a nice rating of how much of a threat it is. Very user friendly and looks like the best option for your everyday PC user.
Although I'm not very good with the technical side of it.. dunno if it actually comes up to scratch with its scans, but I don't think it's too bad. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. MS AntiSpyware vs. Ad-Aware vs. SpyBot S&D
The more I use MS AntiSpyware the more I like it. Dunno if this is a good thing or not. |

| Re: Spyware FAQ and download list. What Service Pack have you got installed? (I think it only affects SP1)
The program with the problem is Surfairy, you might wanna try uninstalling that.
*edit* Infact, you definately should uninstall Sunfairy, after some Googling it appears to be Spyware. Next time you run your spyware detection scans, make sure you've updated it first. |
