| I dont want an iPod, what MP3 player should i get? Some of the more popular MP3 players come from Creative and iRiver.
Both with similar features to the iPod, and a little cheaper, come in all the standard sizes (from 40Gb right down to 128Mb). |

| Re: I dont want an iPod, what MP3 player should i get? there is also NetMD and HiMD, which for all intents and purposes are the same as MP3 players (ok, so ATRAC and MP3 are completely different formats, but for the end user it doesnt make much difference), and have many advantages over an MP3 player, such as the number of songs you can store is only restricted by the number of discs you have and such like, and can be a lot cheaper than MP3 players.

This basically means it has no moving parts so cant skip no matter how hard you bump it (good for walking, jogging gym etc), but has a much smaller capacity. Almost all hard-drive mp3 players have an option somewhere to play on random. Quite how the shuffle makes a selling point of it im not sure. What you'd actually done is change the type of player you're looking at from a flash player to a hard-drive player, hence the sudden price jump.

Last Mindisc player I bought cost me over £200 and it packed in after only 2 years ...
MP3 players are less likey to do this, thus are greater value for money ....... Quote: |

but now I've got a Creative Labs Zen which in my opinion is much better than the Ipod, it can hold .wma files (which the Ipod couldn't) and has a battery life of around 30 hours (Ipod has around 8 hours) and it's easy to use, and is infact cheaper. the model I have can hold upto 10,000 songs.
I strongly recommend it. |
