Kill It, Cook It, Eat It
10:30pm - 11:15pm
BBC3
1/3 - Beef
If you eat meat, watch this. It's the first of three programmes following your food from field to fork. Today, we see a calf slaughtered, butchered, cooked and eaten. Virtually all of this takes place in a small abattoir in Derbyshire, temporarily fitted out with a TV studio to accommodate an audience of interested onlookers and potential diners. It's clear that we are all witnesses to the treatment of the cattle and, while seeing a large animal killed is not insignificant, the process revealed to us is never actually shocking. This is interesting stuff, but why it's presented as an event in front of an audience is never clear. Certainly, for any omnivore who cares about food, it is worth watching, but you can't help but feel that it could have done with being just a little less preachy.

THis could be interesting.. altho, probably not to vegetarians..

| Re: Kill it, Cook It, Eat It. - Tonite Oh my word. I'm not into eating meat, but i certainly wouldn't be persuaded now.
I feel pure light headed seeing it getting slaughtered. |

| Re: Kill it, Cook It, Eat It. - Tonite THey're doing a Christmas Special tonight on Geese and Turkeys. Quite good so far but its more relying on the small abbatoir which is all hand done rather than the larger ones where its more mechanical :/
I always love the mad vegans who are ALWAYS (no matter how excellently its done) going "Its DIGUSTING" |

| Re: Kill it, Cook It, Eat It. - Tonite Anyone watched the first one of season three yet? I'm watching it just now and expect to be completely unphased by it.... if somewhat hungrier than I was before watching.
