| Lab Rats (BBC 2 'comedy') Anyone else watched this?
I decided to see what it was like (thanks to the wonder of iPlayer) and this is actually the worst comedy that the Beeb has come out with since the endless fetid turd that is Two Pints of Lager and A Packet of Crisps.
They try physical comedy and fail, they try intelligent comedy and it fails and they try over the top comedy which also fails - a lot. It's like a CBBC comedy with swearwords or series one of the IT Crowd with even worse jokes.
Seriously BBC, what happened to the Golden Age of 80s and 90s comedy?

When I think BBC classic, I think Dad's Army, Porridge, Red Dwarf, Monty Python etc not this dross.

It was fucking awful. The only thing worse was the self congratulatory "blooper" reel shows where one of the cast fluffed their lines because it was so funny...
HATE. HATE. HATE.

Frasier wasn't all that good a lot of the time.

Frasier wasn't all that good a lot of the time. | The idea that Frasier was intelligent comedy is a common misconception. The main cast having posh accents doesn't make the writing any less soap opera dross.
Two Pints was a total pile of shit, seriously unfunny crap. |

Frasier wasn't all that good a lot of the time. | I've recently re-watched all of series 2 and 3 of Frasier, and honestly Brett you are wrong on this one. I'm slowly acquiring every series ever and watching them in order - eventually getting to the later serieseseseses that I never actually saw before, so maybe they get shit at some point down the line - but at this stage I can honestly say Frasier was "all that good" ALL of the time.
I wouldn't say it was "smart and intellectual" either, in fact I would say the humour comes from Frasier and Niles' exaggerated opinions of their own intelligence as it is thrust into rather regular scenarios in rather normal surroudnings, but that's going a fair bit off-topic.
Ehh, what WAS the topic again? Oh aye, this "Lab Rats" show. Never seen it. I doubt it can be any worse than a show I watched on, like, BBC Three or something a few months back though. Just a bunch of fucking retarded sketches played out by this entirely unhilarious Asian woman. I'll never remember the name of it, but it was complete and utter dick. |

| Re: Lab Rats (BBC 2 'comedy') Has there been a decent BBC sitcom since... well for quite some time anyway? (They still probably beat all of ITV's offerings)
Channel four seem to have been producing the best sitcoms for ages now.

| Re: Lab Rats (BBC 2 'comedy') The main problem these days seems to be a lack of originality, almost as if the original idea consisted of the writer picking characters from other shows and saying "this character in my show should be like ****** from **** ** ****".
That reminds me, when John C. McGinley auditioned for his part in Scrubs he had to read for it 3 times despite the character description saying "Dr. Cox is a John C. McGinley type".
But yeah, Lab Rats is bollocks. |

| Re: Lab Rats (BBC 2 'comedy') Painful.
This and "Two Pints of Lager..." are like the produce of someone from a planet where comedy doesn't exist who has just had a primer lesson in what comedy is and then been told to write some.
