| Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message Ahmadinejad this year Quote:
Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will deliver Channel 4's alternative to the Queen's Christmas Day speech this year, it has announced.
He will be shown telling British viewers "the general will of nations" is for a return to "human values".
His speech, in Farsi with English subtitles, will be the channel's 16th alternative Christmas message.
Unlike previous years, it will be broadcast at night and not at the same time as the Queen's speech.
The message of seasonal goodwill is to be aired at 1915 GMT.

| Re: Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message Interesting. Is it just a scheduling conflict (they want to show some xmas special or the like at the usual time) or is there some obscure by-law relating to treason that broadcasting a foriegn dignitaries message at the same time as our head of state contravenes? |

| Re: Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message This is going to be good.
I was expecting it to be Peter Kay's drag act doing it this year, since C4 has really lost it's edge as far as everything else is concerned these days. Thank fuck it's being done by someone who actually has two brain cells to rub together. |

| Re: Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message It most likely be depressingly predictable.
Either a tame plea of similarity between religious types, perhaps with an implicit undercurrent of mistrust towards secularism and secular governments, or a stage managed plea for peace in our time from a leader with half an eye on impressing upon the soon to be prez that Iran aren't all that bad afterall. |

| Re: Channel 4's Alternative Christmas message How amazing would it be if he declared war on Israel, brought out a big red button, and then started jabbing it and laughing.
I think that's at least in with a 50-50 chance.
