| thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune 2 tunes in as many weeks? I've never felt so productive in my life.
Aye, I've hashed together a rough instrumental of "When I Finally Close My Eyes". I'm quite liking it so far, hopefully the full version with vocals, guitars, scratching etc will be on the EP.

| Re: thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune I like it, nice blend of elements. Very fond of the piano bit at the start, and the drum track throughout.
Perhaps slightly disjointed at 1:54—dropping and replacing so many features at once with little to connect across makes it feel slightly like someone changed the channel on a radio. At 3:17, for example, the sudden shift works better due to the acapella bar, for me.
The echoed "wake up" is a little anticipatory at the very start, I'd have timed it to be a bit lazier at that part of the song to reflect the mellow vibe.

| Re: thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune Aye, I was having trouble moving between those parts so I poofed it and went "I'll just do a straight cut". Cheers for the comments, it's always good to hear an educated opinion on my tunes. |

| Re: thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune I'd have had a bar (perhaps two beats) of silence or something. Always loved that bit in the Garbage track where everything stops with a turntable stopping kinda noise. Leetle cheesy but effective.
Stick Wyclyff going "Two Times" in at that point. You'll get a grammy.

Once I've got all the instrumentals laid down, I'm gonna start working out the story arc/lyrics for the EP, and then we'll talk.
Everyone else, cheers for the kind words. Bonus cool points if anyone can name the samples used. |

| Re: thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune i really like it.
i agree with mr burnt bread about the shift from fast to slow. maybe a bar or two of a reversed synth pad or something just to let it fade for a second. or if you're having vox over the top silence would be good.
bravo sir. |

| Re: thewilliamsondawtcom, new tune Hmm. A harsh break/change during the track could be worked into the lyrics somehow and then magically make a lot of sense. Assuming a storytelling lyric, that could be the point where something happens to the protagonist—drinking something, taking something, falling over, tripping, stuttering, crashing a car, snapping a record, being smiled at by a pretty girl … you never know.

Both songs are ace, IMHO.
