| Re: Cargo Ship/Freighter Travel It's not something I would think was a good idea. 3 weeks on board a ship that you're not workin on would be a nightmare. I think it'd be a lonely journey and not very comfortable, even worse as a girl.
It's certainly adventurous and bold but I'd personally rather pay the extra to get there by conventional means.

| Re: Cargo Ship/Freighter Travel Assuming $75 a day as quoted by Hammer that means a 10 day crossing will cost $750 so $1500 both ways. For £800 you can fly pretty much anywhere.

You'd be fucked if you wanted off half way through the journey as well. |

It gets you where you want to go cheaper, far more quickly and more comfortably than what you're suggesting. I'd rather spend an extra 20 days in South America/Africa than on a boat trying to get there. I understand the idea that the journey is the adventure but in this case I don't see how much of an adventure it would be. You would just be on your own watching DVDs until you arrive, not meeting new people or experiencing different cultures.
I really don't get the attraction.
