Mini break suggestions

Right, it's mine and the mans anniversary coming up early next year. Seems a long way off, but with crimbo & the likes looming we want to plan ahead and have time to save.

We don't want a big city again, but we do want somewhere peaceful, pretty with a few things to do/explore. Preferably not Northeast or in the Highlands coz I'm from up that way anyway. Where in the UK?

the lake district? that's quite a beautiful place and if you choose the right hotel it can be peaceful too
