Malaria and other inoculations during pregnancy...
Been looking around trying to find more definitive and descriptive information on this..

Say one will be just between their first and second trimester of pregnancy but is travelling to a country that requires, or at least strongly advises to be inoculated with various immunisations like Typhoid, Malaria, Hepatitus, Tetanus, etc..


Not having spoken to a health professional about any of this yet, and not sure which, if any, are safe to take whilst pregnant...


Anyone had to, been advised for/against any of them, or generally know about this at all?


Out of all the stuff I've looked through so far, I can't see anything that mentions which ones are adviseable/unadviseable during this period of time!


Having said that, has anyone just went ahead, without any of these jabs at all, and lived to tell the tale whilst pregnant; or knows anyone else who has?!



Any genuine wisdom/experiences of this is much appreciated - Time's a tickin'!

Maybe worth giving your GP a ring, or popping in for a chat, and also maybe calling the maternity ward at the local hospital for a 2nd opinion, plus health visitor/midwife person you've been assigned for the birth/pregnancy. I don't have any experience of it personally, so that's all I can think of.

I dont think there are vaccinations against Malaria - that's usually medication and will have guidelines for usage with that. Best bet phone GP

Yeah, I was just reading that about malaria there - and apparently it's adviseable to keep taking tablets for a few months to ensure it's not in your bloodstream...as it can take up to a year to contract it, after exposure!

The pharmacist will have all this info, they tend to know more about drugs that your GP will.
