| Re: Camden London is amazing but I do agree that Camden is a shithole. Its ridiculously busy at weekends and only really bearable midweek when its quieter. It has one or two alright bars but I wouldnt spend large amounts of time there.
Also, flying might well be quicker but by the time you faff about getting to and from airports and checking in and getting luggage at the other end, you are quicker getting the train. I quite often megabus it down and get the train home. The train can take between 4 and 6 hours, depending on what line and what stops there are. The one that was GNER now offers free wifi and you can usually get tickets for about 18.50 single. You also dont need to worry about the size of your luggage and liquids etc. Its a piece of piss getting on at Central and getting off at Euston or Kings Cross. I'll probably never fly down again and its a journey I make every couple of weeks. |

| Re: Camden If you can get a cheap flight fly!
I stayed in a hostel in camden once, came with complimentary pubes on the pillow.
There are a coupla hostels 2 mins away from all the goings on.. ones attached to a pub.
There is a good pub that sells tasty thai food, cant remember what its called but its a big purple building on a corner.
Also... you might just wanna check ryanair and u might find a return flight for 20 bangers to various places around europe that will probably be more fun than london... as my non-politically correct father says "it's full of blacks and subways" (he doesnt mean the sandwich shop btw, he's so old he probably doesnt even know what they are).

| Re: Camden Aye Camden is full of guys trying to force you to buy shit, but I still loved it. It's bodymods galore and I found a decent wee pub a few streets down from the main street that got me excellently drunk for a small amount of change, and it's..just..y'know, good. It's busy but worth it.

| Re: Camden There's a wee pub called the devonshire arms, sounds like a run of the mill old man effort but that's where all the goths hang out! Proper goths.. not rufus t goths.

she's not evn joking, this shop really exists and is terrifying. The reason it's so bad is all the staff are on commision only so are desperate to sell you stuff. Anyone from London knows about it and knows to stay the fuck away though
I dunno, I liked Camden. The Stables were awesome for shopping and I loved Cyberdog and the Collectif shops. Found and awesome poi shop too.
I guess it all depends what you go down expecting really, bits of Camden are like a better Barras with you know, actually things you'd want to buy. It's full of some of the best body mod places in Britain, which is why I went, that and for the shopping, so from my point of view it did as it said on the tin. i got my nape pierced, and pierced well, and I got loads of cheap clothes. Sorted!
NIghts outwise I went to Slimelight and a few other places further afield and had a ball. |

You might ber cheaper getting the train and just as fast. Sure it's only an hour flyign time but you have to be at airport 2/3 hours before, travel time to and from airport will add another hour at least so it's roughtly.
4/5 hours flying minimum
5/6 hours train and your in the center of london.
Oh and if you go to camden there is an amazing burger place down a side street.

I'm tired of the pro-flight lies.
If you book about 6-8 weeks in advance you'll probably be able to get 15 quid singles each way. Could get the virgin 4.5 hours one if you're lucky too.
Saturday 1 March 2008
Leave at 8.50
Get in at 14:44
£15.70
Return Monday 3 March 2008
Leave 10:29
Get in 14:54
£18.50.
Canny beat that.
Didnt check if it was Kings Cross or Euston, but they are both right in the centre and no further apart than Central/Queens St
