| Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? This may be the wrong forum apologies.
So I'm sick of hearing of all these cool Glasgow nights out that I cannot attend due to being in boring Edinburgh (the night life here is pretty shit tbh).
With the exception of crashing at a mates house, since I don't have any close mates in Glasgow, what's the best way to attend a Glasvegas night out from Edinburgh? If I went out in Glasgow I'd wanna stay till 3am at the clubs, any ways of getting home after trains? Anyone used Megabus?

| Re: Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? Trains/Megabus/Citylink both finish at midnight Sun-Fri! Citylink do a bus at 3am on a Sat but as far as im aware its first come first served and the queues can be quite long so you can end up not getting on the bus.
Anyways Edin nightlife aint too shabby, Hive on Weds/Sats are good and Liquid Rooms can be good at times as well depending on what music your into and what nights you go, although drinks there are expensive. Just fill up on £1 drinks at Opium before you go

The Hive is excellent, but I'm not too fond of Liquid Rooms or Opium. Liquid Rooms is waaaaaaaaay too busy on Wednesday (the only night I like) and full of YAS. Opium used to be where I life for the first couple of years here, but the management buy over resulted in all the cool staff getting the sack and being replaced with a bunch of sour faced cunts that have nae banter.
Most of them work for other clubs, so most of the staff there now have no interest in rock music. They play RATM all the time and that's it really.
I was there one time and a cool tune came on but the staff simply skipped it and put on Franz Ferdinand?! Last time I went there.

| Re: Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? Your right about the management of Opium but they did replace the staff with good looking people, granted theyre usually crap at their job and isnt enough of them which means a 45min wait to get served on a Sat night tho :/

| Re: Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? If I'm going to a BIG night out in Edinburgh, ie a gig with an aftershow or something where i know I'll be on a crazy bender and want to stay till 3 I generally Youth Hostel it. It's only 12 quid a night.
Not sure how much the hostel in Glasgow is, but it's in the city centre right next to the Catty pretty much. Might be worth looking into / booking so you can saunter back hungover at your leisure next day after getting a proper nights sleep. |

Yeah never set foot in it now.
Places I go usually:
The Hive, Jeckyl & Hyde, The Rat Pack, Brass Monkey, Victoria (on Leith Walk), Mr. Modos, Teviot (has soom good clubs, and excellent pubs) and that's pretty much it. Need to check out the Black Rose sometime too. Quote:

| Re: Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? Kicking about for a few hours isn't that hard.
If the casino ain't your thing buy Empire or something from a 24 hour newsagent and sit in a 24 hour cafe for an hour or two having a read before wandering up to the bus station for 6am.

How many people to a room? | It depends. For sharing with 3 others it's under 15 quid a night. For 2 of you sharing it's 30 a night. It all depends really how good a room you want and if you want it with a en suite or anything. http://www.euro-hostels.co.uk/glasgow_booking.html
I tend to book into a hostel when I know I'll be so drunk/ tired i'd fall asleep on the bus or want to kick about the next day and sightsee / shop etc.
They do special offers and things too. Worth a wee look. |

| Re: Edinburgh to Glasgow travel? Think the bus service resumes at 05:20 on a Friday, but it feels like consecutive eternities. Cold!
A drunk guy offered to give me money for a taxi home fairly recently (my boyfriend was trying to seduce some girl). And drunks have a bad reputation!
