| Pick me a holiday! Time off work in AUgust for my birthday, was going to head to my brother's just outside of London, crash at his while going to gigs at night but there isnt much on in August, and the same for gigs in Glasgow - BOO!
So, im thinking of going somewhere. Reccommend me a holiday!
Thinking of going for 4 days, relatively cheap but a good experience, and preferably somewhere i can go to a gig or a club or something - im not a tourist type person! I dont mind walking but i just get bored by all that jazz.
I was thinking festivals but live at loch lomond and connect are both in August and i couldnt see anything else going on.

| Re: Pick me a holiday! Flights are £120 though. Cheaper going to Paris at £68. Ive heard good things about Berlin and i would fancy wandering around the ma-hoooo-sive shopping centre.

| Re: Pick me a holiday! CheezyJet can do you a Glasgow to Berlin return for less that £100 in August.. depending on dates.
Berlin is good, quite cheap.. I love it there.
If you're going, you have to go to White Trash, one of my favorite bars..

Go to Strasbourg, it's amazing. Plenty so see and do (Normally I would never advise France, but the people there were amazing, purely because it borders Germany )

I may have to, as the head of the household, put my foot down on this matter

| Re: Pick me a holiday! Madrid. The people are fantastic. There is absolutely loads to do. The city is relatively small so you can see everything easily in 4 days. There are plenty of galleries and the architecture is beautiful. If you go to Madrid, have dinner in the main train station. Seriously. There is a restaurant there that is superb.
I don't agree Brussels is dull either. However, if I was going to Belgium I would probably go to Brugges rather than Brussels.
If you have a bit of money you can spend, you may get cheap flights to Milan in August and that is always a city worth heading to.
Closer to home, why not Belfast? Again, fantastic city, lovely people and loads to do. I prefer it to the overly touristy Dublin (I really cannot stand the Temple Bar area).

| Re: Pick me a holiday! If you're seriously restricted by cash, then just have a look and see what the cheapest flight is. And just go. Then, when you get there, go to the tourist information centre and ask them for ideas of free or relatively cheap stuff to do.
It might not be exciting Berlin, and it may well be dull Brussels, but at least you'd be getting away, and doing something different. |
