| Another cheap/last minute flight question I may have a couple of weeks unexpected holiday this month.... Where are the best places to get last minute deals?
Ideally I'd love to piss off to New York or something, the last time I did a last minute effort was a deal off teletext. What are the best ways (if any) when you're lucky enough to be able to have a flexible travel period and can go at a moment's notice?
Much appreciated |

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question Teletext holidays and Travelsupermarket can throw up some pretty good late deals.
If you can be arsed going down to the airport ready to go and asking round the company desks you'll be amazed what you can get for a pittance if you're ready to leave there and then and are unfussed as to where you go. (Allegedly, I've never tried this myself.) |

If you fancy Toronto,
They do decent hotel offers as well as long as you book flights with them.

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question No hotels needed alas, I've just got myself some accomodation in NYC
Last minute.com is a bit scatty, although cheapflights.co.uk is throwing up some decent prices.
Thanks for the advice so far folks! Lovey: Toronto is an option, always wanted to see it and I could easily get a connecting flight to the states I suppose |

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question If you're flexible, it's worth while calling BA or American and asking if they have any StandBy specials on...
Might mean sitting about just waiting for a call and being on the plane 30mins later tho'..

Al | Does that actually work, going to the airport and saying I want a flight sort me out I'll go anywhere anytime as long as it's cheap? Surely they can't give you a return cheap cos it's got notice on it?

Sometimes... if they've got a flight going, and they've got a few spare seats, they might as well sell them at a discount as leave them empty... getting harder to the US because of restrictions by Homeland Security.
Problem with CHEAP flights at the moment is the price of the fuel....

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question I'm finding this quite difficult to be honest, I think the £370 bracket is probably quite good going considering it's summer and I'm wanting to leave in a couple of weeks.
Might try a phonecall to the airlines next week if I don't get anything booked.
That's a beast of a deal for Toronto though Lovey, well spotted! |

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question Toronto's nice.... very clean. In fact, when I was last there, there were actually MEN in a VAN whizzing about with brushes and big shovels just to clean up piles of leaves, shove them in the van and drive off
Canada's nice but, you should go - and that's cheap as chips!

Found www.dialaflight.com which appears to have some decent deals. Will ring them up tomorrow morning I think. |

| Re: Another cheap/last minute flight question dialaflight are heavy good actually - Dunno so much about going West, but they are certainly quite reasonable, elsewhere. Just don't let the bastards put you on hold, fuck! THAT was a nightmare! If you're gonna go long-haul, and it's likely to take them a while, get them to give you a ring back from their own extension numbers
Good luck Chris, hope you find a good deal!
