| Blackpool I'm going to Blackpool (not through choice, I might add) on Saturday the 6th of September. Woot.
I have already secured my one pound bus ticket, now I need suggestions of uber cheap places to stay for one or two nights and stuff I can do by myself of a saturday evening without getting stabbed/molested/rabies.
I've only been to Blackpool once before and I hated it, so this is going to be a toughie. |

| Re: Blackpool Blackpool’s not really a fun place to hang out at that time of year. Especially not on a Saturday night.
The local rock club (for want of much else worth doing) is called The Tache and is behind the bus station, so easy to find. I always had a decent night out there, in that generic provincial rock club kinda way. I’ve heard horror stories from a couple of other Glaswegians though, who got jumped after leaving. Not that you’ll have any problems, I’m sure.
Also cheesy, but possibly more amusing, is Funny Girls the big tranvestite bar. Also easy to find, just ask directions from pretty much any local. Opposite end of the Golden Mile from the Pleasure Beach. You can’t really miss it, thanks to the big neon pink handbag outside.
There used to be some great hip hop nights at a club called The Cooler when I lived there, but that was a long time ago. I doubt the place still even exists.
As for places to stay, all the B&Bs are cheap. I’m talking between £8 and £18 per night cheap. They’re also all skanky as hell and I would only recommend trying to sleep in one if you’re going to be drunk enough not to notice the cockroaches. If I were you I’d want to pay out for a boring chain hotel instead for the sake of cleanliness and safety.
Have fun!

Been once, couldn't stand the place.
When the revolution comes, that's the first place to get nuked.

| Re: Blackpool How cheap are we talking?
When we went me and the boy stayed at the Big Blue Hotel and managed to get a cheap last-minute deal. It's right next to the pleasure beach as well, which was handy.
As for activities, if you don't want to get stabbed your best bet is probably the flicks.

| Re: Blackpool Fucking great place for skateboarding though. Especially if you’re a longboard rider. A clear mile of smooth as silk ultra-wide tarmac running the length of the Golden Mile, with bandstands, stairs and so on at one end and the Pleasure Beach with its rolling tarmaced walkways weaving in and out the place at t’other.
Here, the Intertron says that Status Quo are playing Blackpool on September 6th. That’s your night sorted!

Still, I'd have to do it with headphones, and my eyes shut.
That said, I could laugh at the point beside the tower where my ex pelted it in the rain.
Heh heh heh.

Funny Girls sounds like a possibility. I don't mind going somewhere alone as long as I know I'm going to have a laugh.
Also, the more I look at B & Bs and hotels on the net, the more I think I'll go for a travel lodge or something. some of the decor I've seen today is not nice. |

| Re: Blackpool When I went to Blackpool I thought that the bed in my B&B was piss poor. It wasn't until I was leaving I had a look at what was wrong with it - one of the legs was missing and they solved this problem by sitting the bed on top of a plastic beer crate and a extra long under sheet to conceal this devious act.
