#16 | | Guest | Re: Edinburgh? Thanks for your suggestions guys! The zoo is probably a no-go because it's a bit chilly to be outside all day, and having the pram will be a nightmare on my own. Dec I'll bear the backpack thing in mind - I have a tray under the pram that I can shove stuff into so I shouldn't need a backpack too. The museums sound quite good though, especially the childhood one. I think I vaguely remember camera obscura - isn't that quite a small place?
*Blaine* - the giraffe's are coming back, they're getting a new bigger enclosure built to suit their needs, it'll be up at the top of the park if I remember rightly.
Cheers everyone | |

| Re: Edinburgh? camera obscura is pretty expensive for what it is tho... and theres a load of stairs so may not be too handy with babba, i would go with the museum suggestion, your boy will love the new science bit they've opened, its very hands on with cars, rockets, robots trains etc... its ace!
or if you fancy doing some outdoory type animal stuff but dont really fancy the zoo then theres always gorgie farm... cute little place and its FREE! well they ask for a donation but you can put in whatever you like, and has a nice little cafe with cheap food there too... |

| Re: Edinburgh? I found Dynamic Earth to be expensive and rubbish, for what it costs it's far too quick to go through. I reckon either of the Museums would be your best bet. Maybe go to the Museum of Childhood first as it is only on the Royal Mile (and so closer to the Playhouse) and if that doesn't occupy the whole day you can walk round to the one on Chambers Street. |

I had a look at the website for the Museum of Childhood and it looks quite interesting, and if there's not enough to keep Finn occupied, there's a brass rubbing place also on the Royal Mile that could occupy an hour or so too.

| Re: Edinburgh? dynamic earth in my opinion wont be enough to keep finn occupied, its more geared towards older children... (its pants anyway, waste of money, plus cos its right beside the parliament, everything is well expensive for eating too....)
like i said earlier, the museum has just opened a new section called 'connect' and its a very hands on exhibit with cars, robots, trains, rockets and various other little things to do.. theres a real formula 1 racing car simulation that you can go on! (loads of seating for you and baby too!!) and its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |

| Re: Edinburgh? Theres a brass rubbing center somewhere off the Royal Mile & they have easy ones for small people to do (and lovely big ones for the more adventurous). You can sit there for as long as you like & you only pay for the paper & wax. Its like £2 for a simple one, plus you can take it home & frame it & make them all proud |

Hopefully go to the Museum then perhaps the brass rubbing place.
Also it's Tuesday, not Friday we're going (I'm rubbish and can't read emails )
