| Last night at Bourbon Street I'd advise any other bands reading this to avoid Bourbon Street because the way we were treated by the "sound engineer" there is appauling, the other bands had similar complaints.
Anything played louder than Coldplay's quieter moments turns into white noise and vanishes in the mix this guy put on and it's a shame for all the bands last night who all gave 110% to the gig to be disrespected in that manner.
I'm sure Eddie will have something to say because he was the most affected by this.

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street i actually typed a massive post last night which i was going to leave on this forum but decided i'd let other members comment first.
first of all, i wanna "thank" the sound guy for ruining our set. when something you have put nearly 2 years worth of work into is ruined by someone who can't do his job properly it's a little hard to take in. when i've made my amp clean, i've done it for a reason and not for some idiot who doesn't have a clue about music to run it through distortion anyway! when we asked to hear out of our monitors we didn't expect to be told "eh, whit exactly you wanting to hear?". how about the fucking band dickhead? when you can't hear the drum cues even when the drummer is less than 2 foot away, then surely the sound engineer has made a fuck up somewhere. and i had to turn my effects pedal off during "star crossed". not because i was being a dick but because my sound was getting fucked around with constantly and the sound was literally hurting my ears! also, every band got a decent soundcheck yet we were rushed on and off and not allowed to give any input into our sound. why exactly?
in short, twilight's kiss REFUSE to play there again under ANY circumstances. also, aMn promotions: remove us from your roster since we weren't treated with respect and were fucked around for the full set and have no intention of ever playing under your name again. personally, i refuse to play at a gig touted by ppl who don't know what the fuck they're doing.
bloody students.
so how do we intend to make up for it? simple. come up to us with your bourbon street ticket and i'll give you a FREE ticket for our gig at the barfly. come and see how it's really done! no feedback, no white noise, no big wanker on the desk!
a very angry eddie

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street Aye the sound cunt wis an utter wankchuff, the sound wis pretty gash for all the bands, but I think the cunt wis takin the piss at the mixin desk wi U guys. I set up some tones on Eddies pedal and amp and I set it so it had next to no bass on it and it was still fartin like a trooper (forgive the pun).
Ye's still played a belter of a set though so it's obvious who's fault it wis!
It's a shame cos it actually looks like it could be a good wee venue if ye got someone behind the desk that knew what they were doin!
And as for that amn promotions or whatever, who the fuck puts flyers out for a gig AT the fucking gig? New promotion techneque or numpties who don't have a clue?
The choice is yours!
Stick wi the Hobbit

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street £2.50 for a warm pint which had tinsel floating in it! out of order!
i could type on and on about how bad a venue it is and how bad the promoters were but i'm supposed to be working on the phones. yup aMn, i need my hearing for work so don't try and deafen bands onstage eh?

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street i thought you were gonna walk off stage eddie.
but aye, i think he was fuckin yous about a bit cos you moaned at him.
it was fairly amusing when you stopped having guitar sound at all then you turned up the amp so it was fine. 20 seconds later a huge explosion of guitar appears out the PA.
in AMNs defence it was the first show theyve ever put on (i think) so they may learn from the experience and not use that sound guy and make sure all the bands know all the details before they get to the venue (especialy about money)

That sound guy has made me view fat people with even more contempt and disgust than ever before.

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street what im going to say isnt that different from what has been said already. we were fucked about and made to look daft on that stage last night. it was embarresing and made us look really stupid. i hated the fact folk were mocking us all due to an apparent "sound engineer" who clearly had no idea what he was doing.
adding in random distortion into clean riffs was nothing less than insulting. lying to us telling us that the monitors were on was also shocking. those who watched the set would have noticed me kneeling beside the monitor with my ear against it.....i could hear nothing. the thing wasnt on.
sorry for everyone who had to see that last night and thanks to everyone who's posted in this thread for your support. i wouldnt wish what happened to us last night on any band.
moan the TK and we'll see you guys in the barfly on the 29th.
Rawk on. |

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street Cheers for the info.......tbh i didnt even know bourbon street put on bands....been in there a couple of time for work nights out and yeah the drink is mega expensive.
Any info on this aMn lot, where they put if they've got a website etc cos i wanna know exactly how to avoid them....
And we know exactly how you guys feel we (resident calling) were put through the same torture at a barfly gig.......... the drum kit was non-existant, like drummer played with a snare and floor tom, the guitar amp was not miked and apparantly had to go no louder than 4 and the bass was di-ed and the sound guy was a jerk and wouldnt even put it on.
And it sucks for a band to be messed about like that......do promotors not know that every gig has an effect on a bands reputation... obviously not with the people that know u but those that dont will end up thinking bad things about u.
Anyway end of rant......sucks that it went badly but chin up and onto the next |

| Re: Last night at Bourbon Street its the way it goes sadly. we were raging. during the soundcheck (which lasted about five mins) we were asked "what is it you want to hear through the monitors anyway?" eh, the band mibby! also when our drummer was warming up he was told "eh we know the drums work ok?"
was a terrible night. couldn't hear anything at all and we were mocked and had the piss taken out of us for no apparent reason. |
