| Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict Well, I would first of all like to thank everyone who attended last night's gig - I'm so glad you could all make it, and you were a great support to us. Thank you
For those of you who either didn't stay til the end, or who could not make it on the night, you will be sad to know that we will not be playing the Carling Academy for the Finals (1..2..3..AWWW).
To be quite honest, I think we deserved to go through - we all played our best and I don't think anyone could fault us on the performance. At the end of the day, it was a case of who brought the most people along, got the votes. We sold 50 tickets out of 80, which was not too bad. I sold 28 tickets, and it's understandable that the boys - living so far from everything - could not sell as many. However, I think I am partly to blame for this, as I should have given everyone tickets long before I did, so that when they WERE in Glasgow they could have picked up random people wanting to come and see us over the weeks previously.
All I can say is that it has been a learning experience. We will know for next time that we need to get the finger out and get selling tickets and make sure people come along. Also...next time, we wil be bigger and better. Our new songs are coming along nicely, and we will have more elements to bring to an audience...as well as having the advantage of merchandise and some EPs to give away and hopefully a new mini-album on sale over the coming months.
We will succeed.....it's just a matter of being patient!
(Here comes the mushy part...)
To all my boys.....I love you guys! Thank you for everything so far.....it's been a great experience for all of us, and I have to say that no matter how many times I complain about having to "put up with" you lot on tours in the future....you're still the best band mates anyone would imagine, so I feel privaleged to be part of it all.
There will be other times and other opportunities.......so we shall not be disheartened by this. On the bright side of things, we got to play a huge stage in front of about 400-or-so folk.....so that can only be a good thing!
Anyways, sorry for the novel.
Luv, metal, jagginess, manowar quotes and anything with a sword........
Steph xx

Anyway it doesn't matter, you played tremendously and more than likely acquired a fair amount of new fans.
Keep rocking you bunch of metal demons \m/

| Re: Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict Ello ello.
Must say I had a fantastic time last night in the Strathy union. In all honesty I couldn't be any happier. We played our best show yet, we sounded good, were tight as fuck and got an AMAZING crowd response.
So we might not have got the votes but I think we can hold our heads up pretty high after playing a set like that. You see the guys singing along to monks who'd never even heard the tune? wee guy infornt of me was trying everytime the song went back to it - was classy!
Twas sad to get put out but these things happen and they only make you stronger yknow. I think we did well getting folk in the door and I dont think anyone could fault our performance.
I'll be at the Carling to support the boys in Syth, looking forward to seeing them rip shit up on the stage. Keep the steel sharp! |

Your show was top-notch, and you're right.... all heads should be held high after last night.
T'was a GREAT gig.
All the best, guys (and THANK YOU for the kind words, much appreciated).
C yas Friday @ Ivorys!!! Forever steel!!!

| Re: Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict I didn't get the chance to hang around and see you guys. I was in the band room with my friends band Train of Thought (Burzum tshirt ) talking to Room 1 (Not the best of bands to be honest but what can you do). I do plan on catching you at some point though hopefully.
Who did eventually get through though? |

| Re: Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict I have to say without a word of a lie that you all deserved to go through more than those shitey little,emo-angst bands that went ahead of you; (ex Syth who are not in the slightest bit emo, shitey or little)! They wouldn't know a performance if it slapped them in the face (much like Steph's tooshy was when she was dancing infront of the wee boys infront of the stage )
You played a great set that went down well with mates and strangers alike! Their loss! Now I'm off to get some chapstick after all that arse kissing |

am
gutted.
All it came down to was how many of their wee pals they brought and what does that say about talent? Not very much
Forever, I will ask myself and others this question: Zynk?! =/
Anyhoo, congratulations are in order for Syth and also to the band Staresy was in (I cannot spell) and of course to Twilight's Kiss, who were and always are amazing.
You guys should be well proud!

| Re: Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict After much scrutiny, I have to say the Emergenza setup is a tad suspect. Largely, it appears to consist of a merit system whereby the more tickets you sell, the greater the likelihood of going through. So it's less about talent, more about how much revenue you generate for Emergenza. Hmmm...... |

| With you on the Syth front (but then MuK is our bass player) but c'mon we aint shitey, little or emo...just not metal mate.
The whole thing is very contrived though...its not a talent show, its an opportunistic, money making, popularity contest. |

| Re: Emergenza Semi Final: The Verdict Well, I would definitely agree with there being a bit of suspicion about the voting system. Personally I think that they went through the back and said...right....who sold the most tickets? (i.e. Who's going to bring the most folk to the Carling Academy?) and they picked those people, and did not base it on talent (except to save face they thought they'd better put at least one good band on - being Syth, and Standby went through on the band vote so the rest of the places went to the bands who brought the most folk)
there were a whole bunch of wee guys down the front who'd never seen us before, and who were singing along, and one wee guy kept giving me the horns and when I came offstage he kept coming up to me and hugging me every time I walked past.....yet NONE of them voted for us, obviously cos they thought that if they voted it would mean that their mates might not go through.......silly wee boys. However, it does prove one thing...and that is that we could have a really good under-18 following.
One thing that I really do regret not doing now is......I was planning to get a hold of a couple of Syth, StandBy, Dionysus and Twilight's Kiss tracks and bung them on a CD and go up and down the Unders queue on several Saturdays and give the CDs out for free to anyone who expressed interest and have the contact numbers/websites to get in touch with the bands for tickets......sadly, by the time I thought of this plan, I was too busy myself to carry it out all on my own and I never bothered telling anyone my plan.....BUT, it's a learning experience and we'll definitely pull the finger out next time.
Anyways...rawk on, and well done again to Syth and StandBy for gettign through, and to Dionysus for playing a brilliant show......Staresy especially played an absolute blinder, and I'll be sorry to see him leave the band, as I'm sure most folk would agree.
\m/ Keep it metal \m/
