Film students; interested in filming live events?

Hey,

If this is in the wrong place or considered too much like advertising, feel free to move or delete - I don't want to upset anyone

I'm part of an orginisation that hosts live wrestling events.

Throughout 2007 we'll be running small events without distrubiting the matches for profit. We'd like to keep a record of the matches for either private use or to use as stock footage for highlight video's.

We're looking for film students who may be interested in filming the small events to help them gain experience in a live enviroment and material for theit course. We're ideally looking for someone to be available on set dates, bring their own equiptment and who can give us a copy of the footage (while also keeping the material yourself to use as coursework material or whatever you'd need).

We'd also be up for helping you out with your studies in any way we can, we've helped photographers build a portfolio and we'd like to help film students in the same way.

If you'd like to take part, send me a PM here or email fanaccess@scottishwrestling.co.uk for further information.

We have our first event this weekend (20th) in Linwood and due to a scheduling conflict with one of the film students who we brought on board, have the spot open for anyone who may want to take advantage of this oppertunity.

Again - if this is in the wrong place or isn't welcome, mods please delete. If not, I personaly see this as a great oppertunity to take on a unique and special project and a great way to have experience being up close and personal with a live athletic enviroment.

Cheers.

Re: Flm students; interested in filming live events?

One crucial thing is lighting; I've done photographs at a few dozen kickboxing shows and the last few have been filmed too, and the lighting makes a huge difference to the results; not just the amount but how even it is across the ring etc.

That's something I'd recommend you put as much thought into as possible, if you're gonna be working with someone new who may not have experience of the venue(s).

Thats a very good point. It's something thats often overlooks, and it is something we've had to take into consideration.

I haven't seen the venue we're doing these smaller shows in yet (it's Tweedie Hall in Linwood for the moment as its close to our wrestling school) but in the Matt Busby centre we've had to be very careful with lighting.

Our old film crew were superb for compensating for not having a lighting rig (yet), but luckily we do have a good tech crew on board who have done great work for us throughout 2006 (particularly in our Clydebank venue, which has been tricky) and will help anyone who comes aboard for filming.
