| Re: Taxidermy. My first try Making something look alive and 'real' when it is neither of the two things, that's part of it I guess.
But then, taxidermy isn't everyones cuppa tea, I understand how folk might not fathom why some find it enjoyable.

Making something with your own hands can be very rewarding. And Scuplpture is an art form.
Is this what she sees in taxidermy? Is it art? Or Is it taking a dead animal and putting life back into it, in a sense? Is it a "morbid" interest?
Or is she just bored and looking for an unusual hobby.
There are reason why people like things. I doubt she woke up one day and thought "i'll stuff a dead rat, just because".

| Re: Taxidermy. My first try Well as I said earlier, I've been interested in it for years. It wasn't an overnight interest and certainly not something born of boredom. When I'm comfortable enough to work on larger pieces it'll start costing me alot of money.

I'm sure she had the brains to answer the question, she might've just been avoiding it, or getting the wrong end of the stick.
We got there in the end though.

I didn't think trainspotters were real things until then.

| Re: Taxidermy. My first try Anyway. I set this poll to close later than planned, so I'll take the adult rat as the option. He's defrosting now and I've ordered the eyes. If he's defrosted enough by the wee hours or tomorow I'll skin him then.

| Re: Taxidermy. My first try The people that are into model railways are always strange.
I doubt they'd want the police riffling throught their hard drives.

Instead of using ebay, I called him to place the order instead. Saves him paying ebay fees.

| Re: Taxidermy. My first try Glass. The albino eyes I'm recieving are clear if you look at them side on and pink when they're looked into. It'll look better than blobs of solid red. Ordered another four pairs of eyes too, two pairs for the two rat pups and another two for the two mice.

| Re: Taxidermy. My first try I'm sure there have been advances in the quality of acrylic eyes, but glass are always worth going for. |
