EDIT: just read tony's post, that sounds like it could work.
in terms of jewellry etc - depending on venue etc, you could incorporate stall/stalls into a launch event.

| Re: Would people be interested in a AN Art show? I agree, you want to have a variety. So i say as many folk as possible, see the interest, and then if there are too many, make decisions.

| Re: Would people be interested in a AN Art show? With this much interest from submitters, there'd have to be some sort of quality control panel..
AND.. it depends how big a space you've got for showing the stuff.

I think it'll be the other way around..the problem will be finding the venue... then after thats done, working out what to fit into it...

As Tony says, invitation by Forbes is the best method of selection even if that means a slight bias towards his tastes (perfectly justified!) but the good thing about Forbes taste is that he does pay attention to other folks' likes so The Forum popular opinion won't ever be off-handedly ignored.
The availability & suitability of venues may dictate final choices on who to involve though - size, setting, timing & style of venues are more suited to some things than others. There's also the consideration of venue funding or co-sponsorship with e.g. arts grants that may only be available to promote younger up & coming talent (ruling the likes of Old-Man-Shannow out ) or to artists from certain areas.
First step is almost done: gauging interest.
Second step: approach artists and discover their availability, what work they can offer and for when.
Third step: find a venue & date.
Fourth step: rearrange the artists & their work to fit venue & date.
Fifth step: pimp it & they will come for the launch and make vague promises about visiting again. |

| Re: Would people be interested in a AN Art show? i'd be up for this if video and installation's included...
as for venue the best way is to contact the council about
any empty spaces they have, i've got a list in the house of
spaces - it's a couple of months old but i've got the guy's
contact details....

| Re: Would people be interested in a AN Art show? no worries,
thing about 'established' places are they're too large profile
for this, and the ones that are more this level are too small
spaces really, unless there's a new warehouse gallery opening
up, i reckon the council thing's the best way.
i'll have a look tonight and fire it your way
[I'm meaning established art places here]

| Re: Would people be interested in a AN Art show? Aye, Big Zombie Lewis knows what he’s on about there.
For smaller places you have the likes of The Arches upstairs bar area, 13th Note, etc. Generally cafés and bars are all that’s open to you.
Are the CCA still the ones running the space along Trongate in front of the theatre?
How about Sloans ballroom, where the Craft Mafia hang out? Ask Toast about that one.

I'd be interested in jewellery was able to be included. It'd be an opportunity to do some more interesting pieces rather than just stuff I know will sell but aren't necessarily all that creative. &I'd also be interested in doing some more fun/burlesque knickers - the old ladies at craft fairs do love them, but not quite their style |
